This is Mark’s 20th year at East Side and 14th year as principal. He was also the Assistant Principal, a teacher, and a basketball coach at East Side. Mark was born in New York, but grew up in New Haven, CT. He did his undergraduate studies in Social Thought and Political Economy, History and English and his graduate studies in Education at the University of Massachusetts. He also received a MS. Ed. in Supervision and Administration from Baruch College in NYC. In addition to loving his work at East Side, Mark enjoys reading, playing basketball, doing yoga, watching independent films, listening to music, cooking (and eating), telling corny jokes, rooting for the Nets, Jets, Knicks and Mets, watching soccer (especially Barca, Arsenal, Boca Juniors, Red Bulls, Argentina and the U.S. Women's team), following college basketball, submitting entries (and never winning) to the New Yorker cartoon caption contest, traveling and spending time in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He currently lives in Brooklyn with his partner, Elisa, and their boy and future East Side Tiger, Isaac. Although he loves Brooklyn, his heart is in LES, where his family is from and of course, East Side is located.
